Recently, a customer of ours emailed her engagement story to us and it was very sweet, so I really wanted to share it with you. If you are a fan of romantic stories, please read on...
Janene W. and Derek O. met randomly at a close mutual friends' birthday dinner in 2009. Since they were both social butterflies by nature, they circulated around the group of friends, swapping stories of the birthday girl. They always seemed to end the conversation with others by circling back towards each other.
When it came for the birthday toast, the birthday gal got up and specifically mentioned the friendships she had with her two close friends Janene and Derek and how much they both meant to her. She went on to say that she always thought they would be a good match for each other, but did not want to get thrown into an awkward position of matchmaker and get caught between two friends.
They exchanged acknowledging looks that there was something undeniable between them that had indeed sparked that night. Derek would later tell their friends that he felt something evoking his heart from that moment on, and every time since when he looked over at Janene. They got married 2 years later and are still together happily ever after! Their love was eternally expressed with a beautiful white gold matching bridal set from Anjolee!

Wedding and Bridal News: Royal Engagement
It’s been eight years since Prince William and Kate Middleton first started dating in the public eye. Since then, there has been a lot of debate about whether they would get engaged. Well, it happened! Recently it was confirmed that Kate Middleton and Prince William are set to wed! She is now wearing a beautiful 18 carat blue sapphire and diamond ring that was once a beloved piece of jewelry that Prince William's mother, Princess Diana used to wear as her engagement ring.
This ring is pretty over the top and is so glamorous that many companies are actually attempting to make replicas of it. It is not that hard of a design to replicate actually, it is just the center stone that would be hard to find because it is not exactly your everyday, normal sized gemstone.
The history of the ring is that Prince Charles proposed to Diana in February 1981 with the ring, when it was valued at approximately $65,000. There are reports that today, this ring would sell for a hefty price tag of $150,000.

To Elope or Not To Elope?
Most couples who elope do so because that they want to save money. The costs of having a complete wedding and honeymoon can be several thousands of dollars, so the idea of doing it privately, either in a courthouse or other private location has its appeal. You save on the ceremony and reception fees, wedding jewelry, catering costs and flowers. It also saves a lot of time needed to plan all the wedding details. Some people think it is romantic to run off to city hall to get married or Las Vegas for a themed wedding.
Recently, two of my close friends decided to elope, planning a larger celebration sometime next year. It made me think about the amount of couples who choose to go this route. Some couples have a public ceremony later on where they renew their vows in front of friends and family members. If spontaneously having a quickie wedding sounds interesting to you, check out these celebrities who sealed their relationships with an elopement:
Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon, Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos, Sacha Baron Cohen and Isla Fisher, Penelope Cruz and Javier Bardem, Harrison Ford and Calista Flockhart, Scarlett Johansson and Ryan Reynolds.
Brides Get Involved with the Engagement Ring Process
Women often dream about the type of wedding they want to have and the kind of engagement ring they wish to receive. Recently, a customer asked me what kind of ring I thought he should get for his soon to be fiancé. The first thing I asked him was, “What kind of jewelry does your girlfriend like to wear”? Based on his answer I began to realize that some guys don’t pay attention to the kind of jewelry their girlfriend wears, even if she wears it every day. It is a detail that can be easily overlooked. His response to my question was that he really had no idea what type of jewelry she wore. This is not the first time I have heard this.
This is why I think it is becoming more and more popular for the bride-to-be to get involved with the ring selection. It can be as simple as mentioning a brand name of jewelry that she likes, sending some website links with her favorite choices or for those not willing to be surprised, they can go together to a store or website to pick it out.
Jewelry style is definitely unique to each individual. Are you willing to take the chance that your fiancé will not approve of the ring you pick out? Or do you know that she will appreciate it- because it came from you? I hope more people answer with the later response because after all, an engagement and a wedding are not centered on the jewelry you wear but around the love you share.
Getting Engaged Over the Holidays
As the 2010 holiday season gets closer, I find myself wondering how many of my friends will announce engagements before the year is over. People think of the holiday season as a perfect time to come together, celebrate, and in some cases – profess love for one another. Between December and New Year’s Eve, many couples get engaged or married, effectively ending or beginning the year in a new direction. As an avid supporter of romance, I look forward to these announcements and wonder who/when/where it will all happen!

10 Easy Tips For Buying An Engagement Ring
The time has come and you want to ask her to marry you, but need some assistance picking out the engagement ring. You are not alone in this quest as many people seek advice on this same topic. The following 10 tips will make selecting your engagement ring easier:
1. Know your spending limits by deciding what your budget will be. The average amount to spend is 1 to 3 times your monthly salary. You can start saving a portion of your paycheck every month.
2. Assess her jewelry style before you go looking at rings. Is there a pattern in the jewelry she currently wears? Does the jewelry she wears have a modern style, classic and streamlined style, or more intricate and vintage looking style?
3. Decide on a metal type. The best way to do this is to take a look at other jewelry pieces she owns. More importantly, look at what she wears on a regular basis. If she wears a white gold bangle bracelet and white gold solitaire pendant every day, know that her preference is for white gold. Once you have the metal type and style figure out, it is time to start looking at actual rings.
4. Begin by looking at engagement rings that are within your budget. Be aware of the following elements which may affect the pricing of a ring: brand name (sometimes you pay a premium just to buy from a specific brand or designer), diamond quality (color, clarity, carat and cut) and lastly the diamond size.
5. When it comes to the size of the diamond keep in mind that diamond rings are sold according to the total diamond carat weight. As a diamond gets larger in carat size, the price per carat also goes up. You can get a 2 carat 3-stone diamond ring for less than if you bought a 2 carat solitaire diamond ring because the 2 carat total diamond weight is made up of 3 smaller sized diamonds vs. one very large center stone. This is part of the reason the 3-stone diamond ring has gained so much popularity. It is often a much more adorable option.
6. Diamond Shape: Decide if she likes a round, princess, baguette or emerald shape. If you are unsure, go with a popular brilliant, round shaped diamond.
7. Setting choices: Here is a description of each type of setting: prong setting (the most popular type of setting, typically has 4 or 6 prongs. The high position of the diamond allows maximum exposure to the light from top to bottom), channel setting (stones are aligned girdle-to-girdle along the groove and secured by hammering the upper sides of the channel walls), pave (stones are set side by side in small openings on a flat surface and secured by raised overlapping spurs, finished by creating a bead like appearance) or bezel (diamonds are set inside the mounting with the outer metal slightly over the edges of the stone to create a strip which holds it in place).
8. Ask the opinion of her close friends and family. Chances are if you like a specific ring, they will like it also, improving the chances that she will love it too!
9. Knowing her preferences ahead of time can ensure the ring you end up proposing with will be a gift that is sentimental and something she will never forget. If the topic came up in conversation, take the opportunity to listen to her comments and don’t be afraid to ask some questions.
10. Now that you bought your ring you can relax. However, don’t get too comfortable because now it is time to start planning the perfect proposal!
